Cape Coral Animal Shelter Quarter Auction Fundraiser

The Quarter Auction fundraiser for the Cape Coral Animal Shelter was held last evening at the Big Blue Brewery on SE 47th Terrace in Cape Coral. What a huge success! Over 150 participants waived paddles, bet quarters on great prizes and just had fun! Big Blue Brewery provided a great venue with great food and drink and wonderful service. The owner of Big Blue , JoAnn Elardo is the visionary who saw the need for this No Kill Shelter here in Cape Coral. With over 170,000 residents, this will be the only animal shelter in the city. She had the vision and put into motion the plans, the people and the enthusiasm to get this done!
The City of Cape Coral was able to help secure 4 acres of land where the shelter will be built. With over $ 2 million dollars as the goal to build and fund the shelter, a Board of Directors was names, volunteers were gathered and the fundraising began. Capital Campaigns, Events and fundraisers like the Quarter Auction have raised a little more than $ 1 million towards this project. The goal is to get “shovels in the ground” by the end of the year.
